Meet Dayana Bergman
I’m Dayana Bergman, and I am running for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 5.
My husband, our two sons, and I proudly call Sykesville our forever home. Our oldest son decided to move north and began his new career in New Hampshire. From the moment we arrived here, we felt something special about this community. It is a place where neighbors support one another, where families care deeply about their schools, and where people believe in working together to build a stronger future.
My husband is a retired United States Army Veteran, and like many military families, our lives have been shaped by service, resilience, and commitment to community. Through the years, we moved many times, but when we arrived here, we knew we had finally found home. Our younger boys attend Carroll County Public Schools. Like so many parents, I care deeply about the future of our schools and the opportunities available to our children.

Throughout my life and career, I have worn many hats, but each one has been rooted in service to others.
I built and operated my own medical diagnostic center, helping patients receive the care they needed. Later, I worked as a Spanish interpreter, helping families navigate healthcare and education systems when language barriers made those systems difficult to access.
Most recently, I worked in the behavioral health field as a Registered Behavioral Technician, helping children and families improve their quality of life. Much of my work involved supporting families whose children were struggling in advocating for their needs, and I helped them access the resources they deserved.
Those experiences changed me.
They showed me that when systems work well, families thrive. But when systems fall short, whether in healthcare, education, or social services, it is families who carry the burden.
That is why I decided to step forward and run for the Maryland House of Delegates.

My commitment to service also extends to community leadership. I served as a Commissioner for the Community Development Advisory Committee in Seaside, California, worked as a community liaison supporting school Capital improvement efforts in Baltimore County, and collaborated with Strong Schools Maryland to help advance the vision of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.
Those experiences have reinforced something I deeply believe: good policy begins with listening.
Listening to parents.
Listening to educators.
Listening to students and community members.
When people feel heard and respected, we can build solutions together. The priorities that guide our campaign reflect what I hear from families across District 5.
We need strong public schools that support our students and our educators. We must continue working towards accessible and affordable healthcare, including stronger mental health support for families and young people. We must protect disability rights, ensure fair opportunities for workers, and address challenges like transportation access and climate resilience that affect our communities.
But beyond policy, my approach to leadership is rooted in something simple: Inclusivity and collaboration.
I believe leadership is not about speaking the loudest it is about bringing people together, valuing diverse perspectives, and working diligently to find solutions that improve people’s lives.
District 5 deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and works hard every day for the people who live here.

I am running because helping people is who I am.
I am running because every family deserves to feel heard, respected and treated with dignity by their elected officials.
And I am running because I believe that together we can build a future where every child has access to a great education, every family has the support they need, and every member of our community knows they have someone advocating for them in Annapolis.
I don’t just talk about it; I have walked the walk of advocacy in every community I have ever lived in.
It would be an honor to serve you in the Maryland House of Delegates, and I look forward to working alongside you to build a stronger District 5 for all of us.
I am Dayana Bergman; I will work hard to earn your vote!
Thank you
